ERA Chapter 11 Construction Specifications
  • Apply thermoplastic paint at min 180°C - 200°C ambient temperature on clean, dry pavement.
  • Ensure retroreflectivity reaches min 250 mcd/lux/m² for white lines and 150 mcd/lux/m² for yellow lines.
  • Install cat-eye road studs using high-bond epoxy adhesive anchored into asphalt surface per ERA Chapter 11.4.

Road Signs & Markings Quantity Estimator Documentation

Technical specifications, mathematical formulas, and civil guidelines

1. Functional Purpose

The **Road Signs & Markings Quantity Estimator** compiles complete material takeoff schedules for traffic control devices adhering strictly to **ERA Geometric Design Manual 2013 (Chapter 11)** and standard technical specifications.

It computes total thermoplastic paint surface area (m²), paint weight (kg @ 3.5 kg/m²), glass bead application (kg @ 0.40 kg/m²), warning/regulatory/guide sign counts, retroreflective cat-eye road studs, and delineator posts.

2. Marking Ratios & Rates

Rural broken centerlines use a 3m line / 9m gap pattern (0.25 effective painted length). Double solid lines use twin continuous lines (width × 2 × length). Cat-eye studs are spaced at 12m on tangents and 6m on horizontal curves per ERA Chapter 11.4.
